Princes Risborough Cricket Club - Ground location

How to Get to Us

From Aylesbury (A4010)/ Thame (A4129) / M40 (J6)

From Junction 6 of the M40 follow the B4009 through Chinnor until you meet the A4129 at the roundabout after the railway bridge in Longwick (about 7 miles)

The A4010 & A4129 join at the roundabout opposite Tesco and the Roman Catholic church. Follow the A4010 in the direction of High Wycombe, turning right at the mini roundabout about 250 yards, through 2 pedestrian lights and after about 3/4 mile fork right into Station Road (signposted for Bledlow) where the main road turns left and starts to go uphill.

Follow Station Road until (after 1/4 mile approx) it turns right and heads toward the station. At this point go straight on into Picts Lane which you follow until you meet the railway bridge; go over it and turn right immediately into Horsenden Lane (be careful). The ground is about 250 yards on the right.

From High Wycombe (A4010 / M40 J4)

From High Wycombe shortly after entering the 30 mph speed limit turn left off the A4010 into Poppy Road just before the Black Prince (PH). Turn left at the end of Poppy Road and almost immediately bear left into Picts Lane (see left).

Ground and Facilities

The brick-built pavilion was constructed in the 1960s although there have been a couple of extensions since then. The facilities include a bar and lounge, changing rooms with a generous shower area and a scorebox integral to the main building.

View of pavilion - the bowler is John Turner, who came from Risborough & also played for Northants 2nds and Buckinghamshire, for whom he opened, scored many runs and more than one 'Man of the Match' award in one day matches against first-class county opposition

view of ground with the poplars

Although this view of the ground does give some idea of its quality we have to admit that it's a bit misleading. The 100 ft+ poplars in the background had to go recently as they had become a hazard! Their removal has opened up views to Whiteleaf Cross and the Chiltern Hills although many will mourn their passing. We were promised replacements by the railways - but we're still waiting!!
[we hope to add something about their demise soon]
