Quiz Night 2003 - 8th March
|
As with most of the 2003 summer the weather was perfect. In the morning the juniors acquitted themselves creditably against Dinton - and the attraction of the bouncy castle encouraged many to stay for the afternoon!
The match was preceded by a reception with wine and a selection of goodies to eat, courtesy of Mrs President Witney (Rita) who had put in a great deal of work ably assisted by a small team including daughter Barbara and family.
Batting first the President's XI made 201-9 thanks to opener Matt Bowyer (60) and our own Damien Piggott (63 n.o.), with Gary Evans taking 3-28 off 6 overs.
In reply PRCC made a fine start with Jon Witney scoring 76 in a first-wicket stand of 113 in company with Matt Adams who went on to make a fine 113 n.o., in the process taking PRCC on to 203-4 and a 6-wicket win.
For many the highlight was the pig roast after the match, accompanied by good beer and good company.

Pre-match discussions
Neil Spicer gets the Hasted treatment while President Mike Witney and Damien Piggott concentrate on the refreshments

Although Damien Piggott scored 63 he didn't seem to know where this one went. Paul Daly stands flat-footed while Graeme Pitt and Dave Hasted look on. |
Matthew Adams comes in undefeated on 113 while Steve Greaves leads the applause. |
|
The Scores Umpire Derek Wallace seems unable to believe the score; Gavin Bushby (scorer) ignores him as he puts the final touches to the book. Graham Linger looks sad as he prepares to depart for Australia ... while Secretary Dave Brooker seems immersed in his paper, unaware that the match is over! |
