Another triumph for Don Dexter's organisation! 16 members past and present enjoyed a good afternoon's golf at Whiteleaf Golf Club. All the usual suspects attended and were shown the way home by Whiteleaf G.C's newly crowned champion and PRCC Hon Life Member Roger Smith.
Complaints that he was now bionic following his successful artificial hip operation were ignored by the organiser!
Well done Rog!
Once again this took place at the Spread Eagle, Thame though with a very reduced attendance.
Unfortunately many playing members were unable to attend and this was exacerbated by the decision by our friends at the Tennis Club not to combine forces this year. However those who did attend enjoyed a first class meal and service followed by dancing to the disco organised by Darren Ridgley.
In the immortal phrase 'a good time was had by all' - but members must think whether they wish the committee to make changes next time - and if so what.
Finally thanks to Jo Greaves for her untiring efforts in organising what was still a very successful event.
As with most of the 2003 summer the weather was perfect. In the morning the juniors acquitted themselves creditably against Dinton - and the attraction of the bouncy castle encouraged many to stay for the afternoon!
The match was preceded by a reception with wine and a selection of goodies to eat, courtesy of Mrs President Witney (Rita) who had put in a great deal of work ably assisted by a small team including daughter Barbara and family.
Batting first the President's XI made 201-9 thanks to opener Matt Bowyer (60) and our own Damien Piggott (63 n.o.), with Gary Evans taking 3-28 off 6 overs.
In reply PRCC made a fine start with Jon Witney scoring 76 in a first-wicket stand of 113 in company with Matt Adams who went on to make a fine 113 n.o., in the process taking PRCC on to 203-4 and a 6-wicket win.
For many the highlight was the pig roast after the match, accompanied by good beer and good company.

Although Damien Piggott scored 63 he didn't seem to know where this one went. Paul Daly stands flat-footed while Graeme Pitt and Dave Hasted look on. |
Matthew Adams comes in undefeated on 113 while Steve Greaves leads the applause. |

The Scores Umpire Derek Wallace seems unable to believe the score; Gavin Bushby (scorer) ignores him as he puts the final touches to the book. Graham Linger looks sad as he prepares to depart for Australia ... while Secretary Dave Brooker seems immersed in his paper, unaware that the match is over! |
